Three of Tildarg Primary Schools pupils competed in the 1st of the TRI Inter-Schools Show Jumping league on Saturday the 26th of September.
Team Name – Little Mix Up
Members - Katie (P7), Emma (P5), Molly (P5) and Katelyn (Oakfield Primary School)
Katie and Katelyn competed in this last year but this is Emma and Molly’s very first time and they were more than a little nervous – as were their mummy’s.
They got off to a fantastic start in the league, with the team coming in 6th on the day out of 11 other teams.
Katelyn went first on Pedro, they had a brilliant round with an unlucky pole down in the first, however they finished in style in the second. It is not easy to be first out so she held her nerve well.
Katie had an amazing round on Diamond and the speed was definitely making her mummy’s eyes water, they unfortunately just knocked a pole on the very last jump it didn’t matter because when Katie and Katelyn’s round were put together it still made a double clear round which completed the set (best of 3). but she was very pleased with herself as it’s been a tough road so far learning how to gel with Diamond.
Molly also jumped a fantastic double clear round on her pony Smartie, only to cry when she came out because she thought she didn’t do it fast enough thinking she had let the team down! – her team mates and Mummy’s very quickly informed her that they were over the moon with how she had ridden and she should be very proud of herself.
A very brave effort from Emma who jumped a fantastic double clear round on Pedro, a pony she had only ridden once in the warm up arena because her own pony Tam, was being a little naughty.
They are a great bunch of friends, made even closer because they are all members of East Antrim Pony Club as well.
Looking forward to the next one on the 10th of October and hopefully as they progress so will their confidence.
